Vietnam's Banking Academy works with ECB experts on climate risk training under SHIFT project

Vietnam's Banking Academy (BAV) met with European Central Bank experts on October 21, 2026 to advance the SHIFT Project, which aims to shift investment toward green transformation. The session focused on building banking sector capacity for climate risk management and supervision, including climate stress testing methods and practical case studies that could be folded into BAV's training programs. The exchange, supported by GIZ, also covered future cooperation on monitoring capacity and international best practices. For Vietnamese banks facing growing pressure to assess climate exposure, this kind of hands-on curriculum development matters more than high-level pledges. The real test will be whether these materials reach working bankers and translate into better risk decisions on the ground.
