Vietnam launches domestic carbon exchange, puts a price on emissions for the first time
en.sggp.org.vnVietnam took a major step in its net-zero strategy by launching its first domestic carbon exchange on June 29. The exchange, run by the Hanoi Stock Exchange, allows trading of emission allowances and verified carbon credits as economic assets. This is the first time Vietnam has established a formal carbon price. Over 100 emission facilities are ready to participate, and six securities companies have met the requirements to become exchange members. The goal is to use market mechanisms to drive emission reductions, support green growth, and align with international carbon market practices.
