Vietnam launches domestic carbon exchange at Hanoi Stock Exchange to advance green growth and net-zero goals
en.nhandan.vnVietnam officially launched its domestic carbon exchange at the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) on June 29, 2026. The exchange allows businesses to trade emission quotas and carbon credits, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting economic growth. The pilot phase runs through 2028 with no fees for participating companies under Decree No. 29/2026/ND-CP. Six securities companies have been approved as market members, and over 100 emission facilities covered by Vietnam's greenhouse gas quota allocation plan are ready to trade. The exchange is part of Vietnam's strategy to build a green finance ecosystem and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The infrastructure connecting HNX, the securities depository, the climate change department, and a bank has been tested and is operational.
