Researchers at the Vietnam National Space Centre have developed a new carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) enhanced with carbon nanotubes. This material reduces the weight of satellite component enclosures by 30% compared to traditional aluminium while increasing structural stiffness. The breakthrough focuses on chemically modifying nanotubes to prevent clustering in epoxy resin. This improves stress distribution and prevents cracking during the intense vibrations of spacecraft launches, supporting Vietnam's goal of autonomy in space technology.
