Vietnam's airlines are preparing for the financial impact of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). The national carrier expects to offset hundreds of thousands of emission units, facing a tight market for eligible credits and high verification costs. Beyond offsets, the industry is struggling with the high cost of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which can be four times more expensive than traditional jet fuel. The sector is now pushing for a clearer domestic legal framework to manage carbon trading and reduce market volatility.
