Verra Registers First Food Loss and Waste Carbon Project
clearbluemarkets.comVerra has registered its first project under the VM0046 methodology, titled Brightly. Based in the United States, the project aims to rescue 167 million pounds of surplus food between 2020 and 2027, reducing an estimated 115,118 tonnes of CO2e by diverting organic waste from landfills. The initiative partners with nonprofit food rescue organizations to turn verified emission reductions into a reliable funding stream. This allows nonprofits to move away from unstable grant-based funding and invest in refrigeration and fleet expansion to scale their operations.
