Verra has launched a rebuilt carbon credit registry powered by S&P Global Energy, marking the biggest platform upgrade in its history. The new system consolidates over 5,900 projects, 10,500 account holders, 1.4 billion credits, and 125,000 documents onto a single platform. It integrates with Verra's Project Hub so users can track a project's full lifecycle from pipeline listing through credit issuance, transfer, and retirement within one interface, replacing the old multi-platform workflow. Verra CEO Mandy Rambharos said the registry is built to scale for future market needs. Upcoming additions include transaction-ready API connectivity and deeper integration with exchanges and brokers. Future development will also add Article 6 functionality and data API services for international carbon trading under the Paris Agreement. Core fees and account requirements remain unchanged, and existing account holders retain their project data and credit history.
