Verra and S&P Global Launch New Carbon Project Registry to Improve Credit Tracking and Transparency
esgtoday.comVerra, the nonprofit that sets standards for carbon credits, has launched a new registry built with S&P Global Energy. The platform replaces older systems and now handles over 5,900 projects, 1.4 billion credits, and 125,000 documents in one place. Users can track a project from pipeline listing through validation, issuance, transfer, and retirement without switching between tools. The registry also covers water and biodiversity credits. Future updates will add Article 6 functionality and API services for direct integration with exchanges and brokers. Verra says the goal is to make credit transfers as fast and reliable as the rest of the market expects. For anyone buying or selling carbon credits, this means fewer manual steps and better traceability. The move signals that registry infrastructure is catching up with market growth.
