Verde Resources (OTCQB: VRDR) is working to commercialize low-carbon road materials through a 10-year licensing agreement with Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions covering the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The core product, BioAsphalt, combines engineered biochar with asphalt liquids and uses a cold-recycling formulation built around 100% reclaimed asphalt pavement. That approach could cut emissions from high-temperature processing, reduce virgin material use, and store carbon directly in paved surfaces. The business model pairs biochar material sales with carbon removal credits. Verde points to an earlier NCAT test-track project that produced Puro.earth-certified credits, and the company is working with Isometric on a certification pathway for biochar-based carbon removal in infrastructure. The press release also discloses that Ergon receives 40% of Verde's share of qualifying carbon removal credits, a narrower revenue-sharing arrangement than a cut of all company revenue. Key risks remain. BioAsphalt needs to prove field performance, cost competitiveness, and operational reliability before transportation authorities and contractors adopt it. The long-term opportunity depends on repeat orders through Ergon's distribution network, independent pavement testing, and successful verification and sale of carbon credits. For investors, the strongest signal would be real project data and recurring revenue rather than licensing announcements.
