Vedanta Group reports a 15% reduction in metals emissions intensity from FY21 to FY26, dropping from 6.45 to 5.44 tCO2e per tonne. The company increased renewable energy consumption by over 50% year on year to nearly 4 billion units in FY26, avoiding about 3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. It also used 365 kilotonnes of biomass as alternative fuel across operations, with biomass making up over 5% of the fuel mix at its Talwandi Sabo Power plant. Vedanta's decarbonization strategy includes efficiency technologies, cleaner fuel switching, renewable energy expansion, and offsetting through afforestation and ecosystem restoration. Since FY21, the company has planted nearly 4 million trees toward a target of 7 million by 2030 under the World Economic Forum's 1 Trillion Trees initiative. Subsidiaries Hindustan Zinc and Vedanta Aluminium earned top sustainability rankings from S&P Global in 2026.
