VCI Global Buys Into Indonesian Forestry Carbon Credits as It Pivots to AI Infrastructure
manilatimes.netVCI Global reported 1H2026 results that show a full shift away from capital markets consultancy toward AI computing and infrastructure. Revenue fell to US$2.56 million from US$18.74 million a year earlier, while total equity rose 19.2% to US$114.70 million and liabilities dropped 17.7%. The company also launched VGAIN Compute, a platform that sells AI tokens for access to models like GPT, Llama and Qwen. On the climate side, VCI Global agreed to buy a 70% stake in PT Fine Carbon Credit Indonesia, a platform tied to around 241,000 hectares of forestry area across four Indonesian sites. The deal is still subject to completion and certification, so the carbon credits are a longer-term opportunity rather than current revenue. The company says it also plans to build out solar, storage and data center capacity as part of an integrated power-AI-carbon model. Anyone tracking carbon markets should watch for project qualification and credit issuance milestones. VCI Global has not yet reported carbon credit revenue, and the voluntary market price data in the release is context, not a forecast.
