General Fusion, a Vancouver based company developing magnetized target fusion technology, has been ranked number one on Time magazine's list of the top 250 green technology companies for 2026. The ranking, compiled with data from Statista, evaluates companies on their products and technologies that help reduce environmental impacts. General Fusion edged out Calgary's geothermal firm Eavor for the top spot. The company completed its first demonstration machine in 2025 after more than 20 years of development. The ranking itself is worth a look. Eavor in second place for geothermal. That is a more mature technology with actual operating projects. Fusion gets the hype but geothermal is delivering now.
