Valmet will supply the automation system for Finland's first CO2 liquefaction facility, located at Auris Energia's biogas plant in Mäntsälä. The plant will capture biogenic CO2 from biogas production and liquefy it for use in concrete manufacturing, targeting 3,500 tonnes of CO2 per year. The project involves Suomen Biovoima for capture technology and Carbonaide for CO2 mineralization in concrete. The facility is expected to start operations in 2027. Auris Energia recently doubled its biogas plant capacity to 43,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing around 33 GWh of biogas annually. This project represents a concrete example of linking biogas, carbon capture, and industrial end-use to reduce emissions in the construction sector.
