Valmet delivers automation system for CO2 liquefaction plant at Finnish biogas facility, enabling carbon capture and reuse in concrete
cyprusshippingnews.comValmet is supplying a Valmet DNAe Distributed Control System to Suomen Biovoima for a CO2 liquefaction plant at Auris Energia's biogas facility in Mantsala, Finland. The plant captures CO2 generated as a byproduct of biogas production, purifies it, and liquefies it for use in industrial applications like concrete production, where the CO2 is permanently bound. This is the first plant of its kind in Finland using this technology and represents a concrete step in carbon capture and utilization tied to renewable energy. The automation system provides real-time visibility and advanced process control, reducing manual intervention and enabling unmanned operations. It also improves reporting and transparency for operators. The project aims to turn emissions into a raw material, supporting circular economy goals and reducing the carbon footprint of energy production. Delivery phases begin with the main system in November 2026, installation in December 2026, and start-up expected in Q1 2027.
