Vallourec wins contract for Prinos CO2 storage project in Greece, supplying casing and tubular systems
marketscreener.comVallourec has been selected by EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean, to supply premium tubular solutions for the first phase of the Prinos CO2 carbon storage project offshore Greece. The contract covers about 3,000 metric tons of casing pipes and accessories, including corrosion-resistant alloy products and VAM premium connections designed for long-term well integrity. The project aims to convert a depleted oil reservoir into a permanent CO2 storage site with a target injection capacity of up to 2.8 million metric tons per year and total proven and probable storage capacity of 51.5 million metric tons. This award is a concrete step for one of Europe's most advanced carbon storage initiatives. Vallourec's grease-free Cleanwell solution also improves operational efficiency and reduces environmental impact. The deal signals growing commercial activity in CCS infrastructure, as energy companies move from pilot projects to large-scale storage deployment. Investors and policy watchers will note that the project's success depends on continued regulatory support and the ability to scale injection rates safely.
