Vale of White Horse £100,000 climate fund backs solar, heat pumps and habitat projects
oxfordmail.co.ukVale of White Horse District Council has awarded £100,000 to 15 community climate and nature projects. The money comes from the Vale Nature and Climate Action Fund and will go toward solar panels, heat pumps, battery storage, tree planting and habitat restoration. Recipients include Court Hill Centre, Stonehill Barn, and the Vale and Downland Museum. Other projects cover a community woodland recovery scheme at Faringdon Folly Tower, a nature recovery action plan for Wantage and Grove, and 1,000 free native trees for households. The fund also supports an equipment reuse scheme and training for energy efficiency advisors. The council says the projects support its goal to reach net zero by 2045. Applications for this round opened in May and closed on June 21. The announcement does not include per-project carbon savings or scoring details, but the range of work shows how small grants can support local low-carbon infrastructure.
