The Scope-2 emission free designation is interesting. That means they are buying or generating enough clean power to cover all purchased electricity. The green hydrogen pilot is the next step for harder to abate port operations.

The IIM Calcutta case study on their hydrogen pivot could be useful for other ports looking at similar transitions. Green hydrogen at port scale is still early but this pilot might generate real data on cost and feasibility.

Worth noting this is a government owned port under a central ministry. The policy push from the top is clearly there. The question is whether the 45% cut includes scope 3 emissions from shipping lines calling at the port. Probably not yet.
