Utility Global signs first commercial H2Gen hydrogen project agreement in South Korea for Daejeon tram fleet

Utility Global, a US based industrial decarbonization company, has signed an engineering services agreement with South Korea's SAMJIN E&I for its first commercial H2Gen project in Daejeon. The plant will produce 3.5 tons per day of fuel cell grade hydrogen to power a fleet of hydrogen trams, marking a key step in South Korea's hydrogen hub plans. The project moves from front end engineering to a final investment decision targeted by June 2027. Utility Global's H2Gen technology converts water into clean hydrogen and a high purity carbon dioxide stream using industrial off gases and biogases without electricity. This modular system aims to reduce the cost and complexity of carbon capture for hard to abate sectors like steel, refining, and chemicals. The Daejeon project follows a biogas project in California and represents Utility's first international expansion in low carbon fuels.
