Utility Global hires Robert Nijssen to lead European hydrogen and industrial decarbonization push
hydrogen-central.comUtility Global, a U.S. based industrial decarbonization company, has appointed Robert Nijssen as vice president of business development for Europe. Nijssen brings over 25 years of experience in industrial gas, petrochemicals, and CCUS. He will lead the company's expansion into Europe, a region with strong policy support and investment in clean hydrogen. The company's H2Gen technology produces low-carbon hydrogen from industrial off-gases or biogas without using electricity. It also generates a concentrated CO2 stream up to 98% purity, which can reduce costs for carbon capture and storage. Utility Global is backed by Ara Partners, a private equity firm focused on decarbonizing the industrial economy. This hire signals Utility Global's intent to scale its hydrogen production technology in Europe, where hard to abate industries are under pressure to cut emissions. The company's approach avoids electricity input for hydrogen production, which could be a differentiator in markets with high power costs or limited renewable capacity.
