USW Gets £88,739 to Train Housing Professionals in Energy Efficiency Collaboration
businessnewswales.comThe University of South Wales has secured £88,739 to develop a training programme for housing professionals in the Swansea Bay City Region. The goal is to improve how social housing upgrades are coordinated, since buildings account for around 40% of UK carbon emissions. Rather than focusing on new tech, the training will use simulations to build communication and decision-making skills across housing associations, councils, and contractors. Up to 150 professionals will take part over the next year. The project is backed by the EPSRC's Switch to Net Zero Buildings scheme and aims to reduce emissions while improving tenant outcomes. It addresses a real gap: better collaboration can help ensure retrofit investments actually deliver long-term benefits.
