USTR Wants U.S. Companies to Weigh In on EU Carbon Border Tax Impacts: Deadline Nov 9
advocacy.sba.govUSTR is asking U.S. producers, workers, and exporters to comment on how the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is affecting their business. CBAM covers aluminum, cement, electricity, fertilizer, hydrogen, and iron and steel. EU importers must report embedded emissions and buy certificates, with payments starting in September 2027. The EU is also considering expanding coverage to hundreds of downstream steel and aluminum products. Small and medium businesses are specifically invited to submit details on costs, lost sales, jobs, and products. The deadline is November 9, 2026. The Federal Register notice and submission instructions are linked in the original article. USTR prefers a Word or PDF attachment with 'Comments Regarding CBAM' on the first page.
