Predictability is the big win here. You cannot get project financing for harvesting fleets if you do not know where the biomass will be. This makes the business case for sargassum carbon removal actually possible.
True, but the accounting will be a nightmare. We need clear standards on whether this is considered avoidance or removal, especially if the seaweed was already destined to decay. The incentive structure has to reward the permanent storage part.
