The US Department of Commerce has finalized an antidumping review for carbon and alloy steel plate products from Belgium. The ruling specifically targets Industeel Belgium S.A., which was found to be selling products below normal market value. As a result, a weighted-average dumping margin of 5.78% has been set for Industeel, and customs duties will be applied to their shipments. Other producers remain subject to a general rate of 5.40%.

Standard trade protectionism. It is interesting that the margin is so low, only 5.78 percent. This looks more like a technicality than a major market distortion.
Low margin or not, it still adds cost for whoever is sourcing this plate for industrial builds. Every percentage point counts when the project budget is already tight.
Does this affect the supply chain for transmission towers or substation housing? If Belgian steel becomes more expensive, I want to know if it pushes buyers toward higher carbon alternatives.
