University of Birmingham Develops Low-Temperature Perovskite Catalyst for Hydrogen Production
sustainableconstruction-now.comResearchers at the University of Birmingham have created a perovskite catalyst that allows water splitting for hydrogen production at significantly lower temperatures. By reducing the required heat from over 1300°C to between 150°C and 500°C, this method makes it possible to use industrial waste heat to generate clean fuel on-site. This breakthrough could lower the cost of green hydrogen and reduce the need for complex transport and storage infrastructure. The technology is currently moving toward commercialization in the UK and Europe, offering a scalable alternative to fossil-fuel-based hydrogen production.
