Uniper has submitted a planning application to North Lincolnshire Council for a carbon capture plant at its Killingholme site in the UK. The facility would capture at least 95% of CO2 from a planned 550MW combined cycle gas turbine, with a spur pipeline connecting to regional CO2 transport and storage networks for permanent offshore geological storage. The project supports the UK's goal of balancing rising electricity demand with net-zero grid targets. Construction on the CCGT is slated to begin in late 2027, with the capture infrastructure targeted for a 2030 commercial operation date, pending permits and pipeline availability. The planning submission follows a public consultation in late 2025, and the council will now open a formal feedback period.
