Uniper submits carbon capture plans for Killingholme low carbon power station
grimsbytelegraph.co.ukUniper has submitted a planning application to North Lincolnshire Council for a carbon capture plant at the Killingholme Low Carbon Power project. The plant would be built next to an already consented 550MW gas turbine station and is designed to capture at least 95 percent of CO2 from electricity generation. The plans also include a spur pipeline to connect into regional CO2 transport and storage infrastructure, with captured CO2 going to offshore storage sites being developed by third parties. Main construction for the consented gas plant is expected to start in late 2027, and the combined project could be delivered from 2030, subject to consents, permits, and availability of the pipeline and storage network. Uniper says public consultation feedback helped shape the submitted plans. The council will now run its own consultation before making a decision.
