UNC Charlotte completed a 224-panel rooftop solar installation on its Facility Operations Building this fall. The 130 kW array generates roughly 187,000 kWh per year, offsetting about 117 tons of CO2 annually and saving $13,300 in electricity costs. Surplus power flows into the Duke Energy grid, and the system also powers the building it sits on.
