UltraTech Cement adds 45 electric trucks to green logistics fleet in partnership with EIM
siliconindia.comUltraTech Cement has deployed 45 electric heavy-duty trucks in partnership with Energy In Motion (EIM) to transport clinker from its Kotputli plant in Rajasthan to grinding facilities in Delhi-NCR. The trucks will cover a 250 km route and are expected to cut about 8,900 tons of CO2 emissions annually while replacing nearly 2.9 million liters of diesel. This is one of the largest electric trucking deployments in India's cement sector so far. The move is part of UltraTech's broader net zero strategy and builds on earlier adoption of CNG and LNG trucks. The company now operates over 750 green trucks across its logistics network. By showing that long haul electric freight can work for heavy industrial materials, the partnership could push other sectors like steel and mining to follow suit.
