UL Solutions has introduced a new software tool within its ULTRUS platform to help companies calculate product carbon footprints. The tool focuses on improving the quality of supplier data to meet stricter Scope 3 reporting requirements under regulations like the EU's CSRD and California's SB 253. The software uses AI to interpret bills of materials and process data, enabling cradle-to-gate carbon calculations aligned with the GHG Protocol. This aims to reduce the reliance on vague estimates and provide audit-ready data for procurement and sustainability teams.
