UK's first carbon capture network starts offshore construction at Port of Hartlepool
container-news.comThe Northern Endurance Partnership has kicked off offshore construction for the UK's first carbon dioxide transportation and storage network at PD Ports' Port of Hartlepool. The project, delivered with Saipem, will build a 149-kilometre offshore pipeline and landfall infrastructure to transport captured carbon emissions from Teesside and the Humber for permanent storage under the North Sea. More than 60% of the linepipe joints were manufactured locally in Hartlepool at the former Liberty Steel pipe mill, now run by Corinth Pipeworks, supporting around 150 skilled jobs. This marks a concrete step in building the infrastructure needed for industrial carbon capture and storage at scale.
