The rail corridor between Cambridge South and London Blackfriars is being used as a testbed for green infrastructure. Key projects include the solar bridge at Blackfriars, which generates a significant portion of the station's power, and the upcoming Cambridge South station designed to reduce car reliance through better connectivity. Network Rail is also implementing biodiversity net gain strategies along this route. By transforming embankments into wildlife corridors and using native planting, the project aims to integrate nature restoration with the transition to a low carbon transport network.
