83 GW in the pipeline is a massive number, but pipeline does not mean plugged in. I want to see the actual interconnection queue and how many of these projects have a viable route to the grid. Without a massive transmission overhaul, most of that capacity just sits as a plan on a page.

Exactly. The policy intent is there, but the implementation is lagging. The push for GB Energy to scale up is a move to fix the delivery gap, but unless they change the procurement rules and planning bottlenecks, a state owned company faces the same hurdles as private developers.

The point about standing charges is a real one. It is hard to sell a green transition to rural communities when they pay more just to be connected to the grid while hosting the turbines that power the cities.
