A committee of MPs has warned that the UK government's goal to achieve clean power by 2030 is extremely ambitious. The Scottish Affairs Committee emphasized that Scotland will be a cornerstone of this transition, with over 1,000 projects and 83GW of capacity in the planning pipeline. The report calls for higher community payments for hosting renewable infrastructure and a standardized electricity standing charge across Great Britain. MPs argue that current disparities in energy costs, particularly in rural Scotland, could undermine public support for the energy transition.
