UK Government Visits Hull Heat Network Site as Low-Carbon District Heating Project Advances
news.hull.gov.ukUK government officials from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero visited Hull on 14 October 2026 to inspect progress on the Hull Heat Network, a low-carbon district heating project. The Energy Centre, now under construction on the former Trippet Street Car Park, will use insulated underground pipes to supply heating and hot water to city centre buildings and reduce reliance on gas. The project is being delivered by Vital Energi with design support from ARUP and funding from UK government. Once operational, it is expected to cut carbon emissions, improve air quality, and help Hull meet its climate emergency commitments. Businesses and organisations in Hull can contact the council about connecting to the network.
