The UK government has announced a new £219 million Low Carbon Fuels Fund (LCFF) to scale up domestic production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The fund will launch later this summer, with £93 million available over the next two years for companies developing low-carbon fuel projects that are closest to commercial production. Applications open in mid-July. This follows the Advanced Fuels Fund, which has invested £198 million since 2022 in cleaner aviation technologies. The goal is to build a UK-based SAF sector that can help decarbonise aviation while supporting economic growth. Industry leaders have welcomed the move as a practical step toward reducing emissions from air travel.
