UK firms lack carbon data for workforce accommodation bookings, Roomex study finds
travellingforbusiness.co.ukA new report from workforce travel platform Roomex reveals that only 24% of UK businesses can compare carbon data before booking accommodation for mobile workers. 38% receive the data after booking or not at all, making it impossible to choose lower-carbon options at the point of decision. The study, based on a survey of UK business decision-makers, highlights a structural gap in corporate travel sustainability. Cost, location, and project urgency still override carbon impact in 85% of organizations. Nearly two-thirds of firms require approval for greener options that cost more or are farther from worksites. The report urges companies to integrate carbon data into booking and approval workflows, so emissions can influence choices rather than just appear in quarterly reports. Roomex uses a partnership with SQUAKE to provide CO2e estimates at the point of search.
