The Environment Agency is considering a permit variation for Drax Power Limited to integrate carbon capture technology at its bioenergy plant in Yorkshire. This move would allow the facility to capture carbon dioxide and transport it via pipeline for permanent storage under the North Sea. Following two previous rounds of public consultation and a revised air emissions risk assessment, the agency has indicated it sees no current reason to refuse the application. The public has until June 24, 2026, to review the draft decision and provide feedback.
