Agency says they are 'minded to' approve. That is not a final yes. The consultation runs until June 24. Drax themselves have been pulling back on BECCS investment because policy is unclear. Worth watching but not a done deal.

Exactly. The impairment they took on UK BECCS costs tells you the company sees real risk here. A permit nod helps but without a revenue model or subsidy framework it is still uncertain.

Anyone know what the pipeline route looks like and if that has its own permitting issues? Storing under the North Sea is the plan but transport infrastructure is often the bottleneck.

Pipeline permitting is separate and usually handled by the offshore regulator. The article does not mention that. Drax's own statements about unclear regulatory framework suggest the whole chain is not fully sorted yet.

BECCS at a biomass plant raises the usual questions about feedstock sourcing and lifecycle emissions. The permit covers capture equipment but does not address upstream sustainability. That is a separate debate.
