The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has selected 15 projects for Phase 2 funding to advance direct air capture (DAC) and greenhouse gas removal technologies. These pilots focus on diverse methods, including biochar production, mineralisation, and the integration of DAC with nuclear heat from Sizewell C. Funding amounts range from 2.8 million to nearly 5 million pounds per project. The initiative aims to scale carbon removal capabilities to help the UK reach its net zero 2050 targets by testing the feasibility of new designs and industrial-scale deployment.
