UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme: £7,500 heat pump grants hit record uptake in August 2026
cambridge-news.co.ukThe UK government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) issued a record number of heat pump vouchers in August 2026, with a 40% rise compared to the same month last year. Eligible homeowners in England and Wales can claim up to £9,000 for air-to-water or ground source heat pumps in off-gas grid properties, £7,500 for standard air source heat pumps, or £5,000 for biomass boilers. The surge is attributed to rising energy bills linked to the Iran conflict, pushing households toward electrified heating for greater energy independence. To qualify, the property must be a residential dwelling or small to medium-sized non-domestic premises with a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Installers must hold MCS certification to apply and redeem vouchers on behalf of property owners. The scheme runs until March 2027, and details are available via the government's dedicated grant page.
