UK approves first lower-carbon asthma inhaler using HFA-152a propellant

These inhalers use a new propellant called HFA-152a instead of the standard one, cutting the carbon footprint of each dose while delivering the same medication. The propellant has no therapeutic effect but is responsible for getting the drug into the lungs. The inhalers are expected to be available across the UK later in 2026.
