The UAE has maintained the top global rank for per-capita clean electricity generation for six consecutive years. This achievement is driven largely by the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, which provides approximately 25 percent of the nation's electricity and generates 40 terawatt-hours of clean energy annually. Barakah is a central pillar of the UAE's strategy to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, contributing nearly a quarter of the country's carbon reduction targets. The facility operates under the oversight of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation and in cooperation with the IAEA.
