UAE and Germany Sign Energy and AI Agreements Covering LNG, Offshore Wind, Low-Carbon Ammonia
egyptoil-gas.comThe UAE and Germany signed a set of energy and technology agreements during a state visit, with ADNOC, XRG and Masdar on one side and RWE, SEFE, Covestro and Siemens on the other. The deals span LNG supply, natural gas infrastructure, offshore wind, battery storage, low-carbon ammonia, advanced materials and AI. They could support more than 5 billion euros in investment, according to the companies, and follow a wider UAE pledge of 40 billion euros in long-term investment in Germany. Most of the items are still at letter of intent or memorandum of understanding stage. The LNG part involves ADNOC and RWE exploring up to two long-term sales agreements, with deliveries expected in the early 2030s. On the cleaner side, Masdar and RWE are looking at German offshore wind auctions, Masdar and Luxcara are exploring offshore wind and battery storage, and Fertiglobe, Covestro and MB Energy agreed to study low-carbon ammonia supply into Germany. The headline figure is what the deals could enable, not what has been contracted. The package mixes fossil gas with renewables and industrial chemicals, so it reads as a transitional energy relationship rather than a pure clean energy program. For carbon markets and project finance, the ammonia and storage pieces are the ones with clearer emissions impact, but they still need firm commitments and details on feedstock and power sources.
