The helium deal is the headline, but the real story for the long term is the 45Q play. If they can actually nail the EPA monitoring and verification, that tax credit becomes a massive part of the project economics. Without it, this is just a small gas play.
Agreed. I am more concerned about the execution risk mentioned in their own report. They are transitioning from oil and gas to industrial gases and carbon storage. Do they have the actual pipeline infrastructure ready for the 2027 launch, or is that still a hope?
Interesting to see a carbon hub using helium as a bridge to viability. It is a practical way to fund the infrastructure needed for sequestration. The take-or-pay structure gives them some breathing room while they figure out the carbon side.
