IMARC Group has published a detailed guide on setting up a tyre oil manufacturing plant in India. The report covers project costs ranging from INR 2-5 crore for a small batch plant processing 10-15 tonnes of tyres per day, to INR 50-90 crore for a continuous plant handling 100 tonnes per day, and up to INR 200-350 crore for large integrated refineries. It includes process flow, machinery, raw material sourcing, financial modeling, and regulatory approvals. India recycled about 3 million tonnes of waste tyres in FY2024, with roughly 2.68 million tonnes going through pyrolysis to produce about 1.1 million tonnes of oil. The main products are pyrolysis oil, recovered carbon black, and steel wire. EPR rules give continuous plants a higher weightage than batch plants, and proposed quality standards should favor better-run facilities. Net margins are estimated at 8-15% for a well-run continuous plant, but actual returns depend heavily on waste tyre supply, fuel oil prices, EPR certificate values, and emission compliance costs.
