Turkey gets 400 million euros from World Bank for wind, solar, and battery storage projects
turkiyetoday.comTurkey has secured 400 million euros in World Bank backed financing to expand wind, solar, and battery storage capacity. The funding will support 1,579 MW of renewable energy and 392 MWh of battery storage, and aims to mobilize up to 405 million dollars in private capital. The loans are channeled through state lenders TKYB and TSKB, and target distributed energy systems for industrial and commercial users. The program builds on an earlier phase focused on distributed solar, and now includes onshore wind and battery storage. Developers in Turkey have struggled to get long term financing for these projects due to high upfront costs and long payback periods. The World Bank says the funding will help ready to build projects reach financial close and support energy security and competitiveness for Turkish industry, especially as the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism takes effect.
