Turkey's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar outlined a new national roadmap centered on zero waste and energy efficiency at the Zero Waste Forum. The plan calls for over $20 billion in investments across industry, buildings, and agriculture by 2030. In the first two years alone, Turkey mobilized $6.7 billion in efficiency investments, saving energy equivalent to 4.6 million tons of oil and preventing 14.4 million tons of carbon emissions. Bayraktar framed energy efficiency as the cleanest and fastest energy source available, linking it directly to energy security and competitiveness. He also called for stronger international cooperation on financing models and technology partnerships, noting that no country can realize its full potential alone. The announcement comes as Turkey prepares to host COP31 in Antalya.
