Tubao uses ArcelorMittal XCarb steel to cut hydraulic pipe carbon footprint by 60 percent

Tubao, a French hydraulic infrastructure company, has started using ArcelorMittal's XCarb recycled and renewable steel for its hot-dip galvanized pipes. The company says this cuts CO2 emissions by 60 percent compared to standard metal pipes and up to 70 percent versus concrete alternatives, while maintaining corrosion resistance and structural strength. The move targets water management and storage projects where public tenders increasingly require low-carbon materials. Tubao provides customers with verified FDES/INIES data to back up the carbon savings. The steel is fully recyclable at end of life. This is a concrete example of industrial decarbonization through material substitution in the infrastructure sector. The partnership gives Tubao a documented path to lower embodied carbon without sacrificing performance, which matters for contractors bidding on climate-conscious projects.
