Three Norwegian energy firms, Vår Energi CCS, Aker Solutions, and Knutsen NYK Carbon Carriers, have partnered to develop the Trudvang carbon capture and storage project. The initiative focuses on creating commercial CO2 transport and storage solutions for European industrial emitters using the Utsira Formation in the North Sea. The project will start with an injection capacity of 2 million metric tons of CO2 per year, with potential scaling up to 20 million tons. The partners are exploring unmanned platform designs and direct offshore injection to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency.
