Trane uses AI to cut building energy use 25% and accelerate 2030 decarbonization goals

By integrating predictive algorithms into HVAC systems, the company reports up to 25% reduction in commercial energy consumption and 40% lower carbon emissions. The approach replaces fixed schedules with real-time adjustments based on occupancy, weather, and demand. Trane has already cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 59% from a 2019 baseline, exceeding its interim 2030 target. It now covers 84% of electricity consumption with renewables via on-site solar and virtual power purchase agreements. Despite revenue growth from $13.1bn to $21.3bn, energy intensity improved 38% since 2019. The company also increased recycled content in products to 44% and expanded remanufacturing revenue by 31%.
